Movie Monday!

Review # 2 à 8/10

Drive with Ryan Gosling ……and a bunch of other actors that aren’t as important.

Plot: ‘Driver’ or ‘Kid’ (Gosling) is a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbour Irene, a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard. After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals. But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk - that they're coming straight for Irene and her son - Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.

Well, well, well. Hello Ryan Gosling…..I love you. I just needed to throw that out there before I get started.
Yes, I added the hearts for effect.

Why 8/10?

    Positives:

1)      AMAZING car chase scene – I was literally on the edge of my chair in utter suspense.
2)      Astounding cinematography. It was a truly visually appealing movie from start to finish. Everything was so dark and dreamy – you will know what I mean when you watch (or have watched) I can say, I haven’t seen much like it, if at all.
3)      The soundtrack was stellar. It coincided perfectly with each and every scene.
4)   It has a little of everything: Action, Suspense, Romance & Blood.
5)      Ryan Gosling in tight clothing. I loved his Satin Scorpion Jacket. Hot. He is SO badass in this movie.
6)      Ryan Gosling.
Tight, Satin Scorpion Jacket. Only Ryan can make this look good.
Negatives:

1)      Slow start to the movie, it doesn’t pick up for a while but once it got going it was well worth the watch.
2)      Ryans character had NO name. He was either called ‘Driver’ or ‘Kid’. It was annoying at times but you get used to it.
3)      The BIGGEST negative: Ryan Gosling kept his clothes ON the ENTIRE movie. No topless scenes like Crazy. Stupid. Love. For all you Gosling fans out there, you know how disappointing this is.
This is what Drive was missing.
A breakdown of 'The Gosling Abs'.

Overall, I would recommend this movie hands down. It is an action/ love story mixed into one so it’s definitely a great Date pick for sure. Oh, one more thing…. there isn’t a ton of dialogue either, but it gave Drive an almost haunting feel which I can completely appreciate. Ryan Gosling did such a fantastic job acting, you didn’t need to hear much. You knew exactly what was going on in his head every time.

Brilliant.

Till Next Time ~ xoxo

  1. Excellent, well thought out, and intellectual critique. I have now downloaded the movie, and will watch it with a Ryan Gosling abs picture beside it so I eradicate the main problem.
