The Sunday ritual in our house (when me and the hubs are actually home to enjoy) is usually the following: Sleep in after a fun night out, eat a delicious breakfast in our pjs, take a nap because we’re tired from making that delicious breakfast, wake up contemplate about getting out of bed for about 20 minutes, finally get out of bed, watch PVR’D TV we need to catch up on, I sneak in a cuddle with my kittens (I will introduce my fur babies in another post – you will love them),do some light housework, discuss what’s for dinner, make that dinner, sip on a glass of wine during and after that dinner, and then comes my FAVOURITE part of the day: MOVIE TIME! On average we watch a minimum of 2 movies in a row, maybe 3 if we got an extra long nap in that day. It is seriously the highlight of my week.

I was trying to Google a "Movie Night" poster to insert in this post, and I came across this litle number and could not stop laughing. Enjoy. |
I am an avid movie watcher – it is my time to decompress and escape reality when life just gets a bit too busy and I want to pull my hair out. I love to curl up on the couch, get cozy with my little fam, munch on some yummy popcorn and watch movie after movie. I don’t care if I’ve seen it 27 times, if it is 3 hours long, has subtitles, if the star of the film is Mariah Carey (Please watch Glitter if you haven’t already. It’s SO BAD it’s good) ....A few years ago, me and my friend Mike snuck into the theatre early to watch Bandslam prior to the 9pm Julie and Julia show. Which proves I will watch anything. Actually, Bandslam was pretty good, who I am kidding here? Sit me if front of any Teen movie and I’m golden.

Mariah at her finest and a perfect example of why Singers should NEVER act. |

Yes, I snuck into a theatre to watch this masterpiece. Don't judge me. |
I. Love. Movies.
I have an endless list of my all time faves and every Monday I will reveal a gem for you to watch OR give a review on a NEW movie I watched the night before – which ever comes first. Also, if any of YOU know of any films that are worth watching please send me some titles to add to my repertoire : )
I will start off Movie Monday with a Review.
I watched “Friends with Benefits” for the first time Starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.
I watched “Friends with Benefits” for the first time Starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.
Plot: While trying to avoid the clichés of Hollywood romantic comedies, Dylan (JT) and Jamie (Kunis) soon discover however that adding the act of sex to their friendship does lead to complications.
My rating? 6/10.

JT: "Mila, I think this movie kinda sucks" Mila: "I kow, but I'm sure no one will notice beause we're naked for 60% of the time" |
Why a 6/10?
Reason #1 Justin Timberlake. He ruined it for me. Don’t get me wrong, HUGE JT fan over here. I went to his concert both nights when he came to Toronto for the “Justified/Striped” Tour back in 03’ with Aguilera. And yes, I wore a “ I Heart Justin” headband with the rest of them. But, his actual Speaking voice in this movie is AWFUL. Total David Beckham syndrome if you ask me. If you don’t know what that means, look it up. And his acting ability...I just don't get WHY he doesn't put out another album and leave cinema behind!
Reason#2 Comedic Timing with Kunis was dreadful and they tried too hard to make this a “risqué” film with an abundance of awkward sex scenes, inappropriate jokes and bashing romantic comedies. Well guess what?! You’re in a romantic comedy. And, as a viewer, I want the tears, light chuckles, cheesy plot and the classic chase through the airport trying to get your true love to stay scene. They tried their own spin on it and in my eyes it failed miserably.
Reason # 3 The Soundtrack. I HATE when bad movies try to create a cooler mystique by adding extremely popular songs at the moment to a soundtrack. Do these people think this movie will succeed just because it plays Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People at least 3 times? No. No, It doesn’t....even though I really do love that song. I want the ultra girly soundtrack damn it!! I didn't hear one Goo Goo Dolls or Sheryl Crow song. *Side Note - Just incase you're interested: Top Ten Romantic Comedy Soundtracks
Reason#4 Back in January, about 6 months prior to when FWB debuted - a little movie with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman came out called No Strings Attached. No Strings Attached vs Friends With Benefits

Anyway, this movie didn’t really keep me interested, I was just annoyed and wanted it to end. The only highlight for me was the Andy Samberg and Emma Stone cameo at the begining (why didn't they cast these two instead?!) but, I will say, there is eye candy for both males and females with JT & Kunis in the picture - which is where the 6 came from : )
Till next time xo
